Family Treatment Center (FTC)
Our Family Treatment Center offers a safe, nurturing space for women who are pregnant or mothers with young children. A common barrier to those with children receiving services is lack of resources for families. We provide residential treatment designed to support recovery, strengthen parenting skills, and keep families together.
Why Choose FTC?
- Women and their children (up to three children, ages birth-11) live together during treatment
- Parenting education, which in turn helps to improve skills to ultimately break the cycle of generational trauma as it relates to substance use and mental health
- A focus on breaking the cycle of addiction and risk for future generations
Program Highlights:
- Average stay of 90-120 days
- Transportation to daycare and prenatal care included, and transportation to school provided by school district
- Support from certified birth educators for pregnancy needs
- Family counseling for children, regardless if they live on-site
- Holistic services for parenting and recovery
Wayside’s Family Treatment Center is one of only a few programs in Minnesota that allows women to undergo residential treatment while keeping their children with them.
Women’s Treatment Center (WTC)
Our Women’s Treatment Center provides residential treatment for up to 41 women, supporting recovery from substances and providing mental health services.
What Makes WTC Unique?
- A trauma-informed approach designed for women’s unique needs
- Licensed counselors, mental health professionals, and peer specialists work as a team
- Individualized care to break the cycle of addiction and build a stable, fulfilling future
Program Highlights:
- Average stay of 90 days

“Four years ago yesterday me and my then 6-year-old made the drive to Wayside so I could start healing again. Your program saved my life. It’s been the hardest thing I’ve ever done. God is still very much in this story so I am not scared. I am forever grateful for Wayside Family treatment for seeing me for my potential, and not my pain/past. We all deserve to be loved, respected and sober!
Caitlyn
“I had no hope left and was full of shame and guilt. I faced many challenges during my stay. The most difficult of those being my son moving to Washington to live with my uncle. With the support and compassion of the staff, I began to find myself. For the first time in my life I became honest with myself and in turn was able to be honest with others as well. I learned how to show myself compassion and began chipping away at the walls I had built around me. I allowed other women into my life and we shared our pain and suffering as well as our joy and happiness. I made amazing friends that have continued to be a part of my life in recovery and have become the best friendships I have ever experienced in my life.”
