Yes, if a different level of care is appropriate, women can transfer from one program to another.
Women’s Outpatient Treatment Services
Our Women’s Outpatient Treatment Program provides a strong foundation of treatment for women experiencing drug and alcohol dependency and mental health concerns.
Our outpatient services can be tailored to provide support after residential programming has been completed or before your substance use meets criteria for inpatient treatment. Wayside offers virtual intensive outpatient treatment as well as an intensive outpatient program with lodging.
Virtual Evening Intensive Outpatient (IOP)
Our skilled licensed alcohol and drug counselors and mental health professionals will work one-on-one with you to develop a personalized outpatient treatment care plan. We will also connect you with our more than 50 community partners to address your complete recovery needs. Wayside intensive outpatient offerings currently include 8-14 hours of weekly programming, as well as:
- Flexible evening scheduling
- A combination of group and individual sessions
- Therapy for individuals, couples, and families
- In-home parenting and family services
- Case management and peer recovery services
- Rule 25, comprehensive and diagnostic assessments by appointment
- Sessions meet virtually via Zoom
Intensive Outpatient (IOP) with Lodging
In July 2024, Wayside began offering a new level of treatment, IOP with lodging. Our skilled addiction and mental health experts offer in-person group programming three days a week, plus individual counseling, with lodging and transportation to programming provided.
- Program length is 3-6 months
- Housing is provided (shared housing with other women in the program – housing not provided for children)
- 18 hours of programming each week (Monday-Wednesday, 8 am – 2 pm)
- Transportation is provided from housing to programming
- Programming will take place in-person at Wayside Women’s Wellness Center, 1600 University Ave W, #300, St. Paul, MN
- Includes weekly individual counseling session

Yes, each woman has a dedicated counselor who you will meet within 24-72 hours of entering treatment. From there, you will meet with your counselor once a week.
Wayside’s staff are skillful, compassionate, and caring. They have extensive experience working with substance use disorder, child protection issues, mental health, the legal system and life skills such as employment coaching and budget planning. In fact, some of them have many years of their own sobriety, which means they can relate to the challenges and the rewards of the recovery process. At Wayside, our dedicated staff ensures that women are empowered with the skills they need to prevent recurrence of use and the strength to build a healthier life.
