What to Expect When You Arrive at Wayside

First, congratulations on your decision to get help!  It is very common to be afraid, anxious and unsure. Do not worry. At Wayside, you will receive the best possible care. We will meet you where you are in managing your disease, and will begin your treatment, where you are most comfortable. Our team of dedicated and caring staff will walk with you every step on this journey and create a safe and nurturing environment.

At all of our locations, you will be treated with respect.  Our staff will do everything to ensure you receive the best care you need and the tools you require for sobriety now and throughout the rest of your life. Our care is trauma informed. You, like many of the other women we help, may have been the victim of abuse or other traumatic experiences which impacted your addiction. With this understanding, we create a safe environment for you and support you in your healing and growth.

Please note, there are differences in what to expect. This depends upon which program you are entering.  In fact, you may be unsure which program is right for you. Again, don’t worry. During your assessment, our staff will learn more about you, and help decide what will help you most.

Fire Up or Burn Out!

As professionals, we are exposed to stress and trauma each day. Clients come to us for help and share with us extreme pain and shame. We must know how to deal with it, dissipate it and be balanced. In this presentation, we will discuss how the brain processes stress, review the self-care wheel, and implement the three principles to diffuse secondary trauma.
