Visiting Wayside
Wayside understands how important visits from family, friends, and children are during treatment. The following guidelines allow everyone to connect with loved ones safely.
Before you arrive
The individual you are visiting should confirm a visiting time with you before you arrive. Please refrain from visiting our centers if you are feeling ill.
Please refrain from the use of alcohol, drugs or other mood-altering substances prior to visiting. If you are over the age of 18, have a valid photo ID when you arrive. Visitors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
You may drop items off for your loved ones during visiting times. These items should be given to staff at check-in. All food and beverage items should be sealed in original packaging. Fast food items can be dropped of and must be in packaging that clearly shows it is fast food and not homemade. Fast food CANNOT be eaten during the visit. Home-baked items are not allowed.
Arriving for your visit
Please sign in upon arrival and be prepared to show a photo ID and provide contact information. If you are not on an approved visitor list, you will be turned away. You will be given a visitor ID badge, which should be worn at all times.
Cell phones and personal belongings will not be allowed during visits —please leave these items in your vehicle. Food and drink are not allowed in the visiting space.
Visitors are not allowed to leave and return during the visit.
During your visit
You will be assigned to a specific location for your visit. Please stay in your visiting area to ensure confidentiality, safety, and comfort for all visitors. Visitors under age 18 years must be in the control of adults who bring them.
Clients and visitors may hug briefly at arrival and departure.
Staff will maintain visual observation but provide as much distance as necessary to allow for the privacy of your visit conversation.
Use of cell phones or tobacco products is not permitted in the visiting area. Food and drink are not allowed in the visiting area. No sexual contact is allowed.
Staff will give a verbal reminder of visiting requirements at the start of the visit. If a client, child or visitor is not following visiting procedures, one verbal reminder will be given before the visit is ended.
At the end of the visit, please use the provided cleaning supplies to clean your area.
WEAther
Visits will occur only on days when there are no weather warnings that would put either the visitor or resident at risk. Visitors can contact Wayside Recovery Center prior to the visit to check on any weather-related cancellations.
Denial of Visitation
Wayside reserves the right to cancel or end a visit for violation of any visitation requirements, including but not limited to:
- The resident or visitor is at risk of abuse/harm.
- The visit is not on the approved visiting list for that day.
